The bar charts compare the cost of gasoline and petrol, measured in dollars per litre, in two different states of the USA between 2005 to 2009.
Overall, both types of fuel experienced an increase until 2008, before ending up falling down in 2009. Additionally, citizens had to pay more money to buy gasoline than petrol in both states throughout. While people in state B paid a higher amount of money to buy fuel in the first two years, the prices in state A became more expensive from 2007 onward.
In state A, the price of gasoline was 0.8, this figure then increased consistently to a peak of 1.40, before falling down to around the initial price in 2009. Similarly, petrol price experienced a stable increase to 1.20 in 2008, after which it decreased sharply to 0.55 at the end of the period.
Regarding state B, in 2005, the prices of gasoline and petrol were 0.9 and 0.7, respectively. After a slight decrease in 2007, these figures climbed up in 2008, with gasoline reaching 1.30 and petrol reaching 1.10, before decreasing sharply to 0.7 and 0.5. Compared to state A, the prices of both fuels were 0.10 higher, but it became slightly cheaper after 2007.
