The pie charts illustrate the percentage of people’s spenditure in an anonymous European country was spent on different commodities and services in 2 years, 1958 and 2008.
Overall, there was an increase in housing, travel and luxury goods’ percentage, while others experienced a drop. Futhermore, housing and food accounted for a large proportion of the pie chart.
Taking a closer look at the chart, we can see that this is a big different in the proportion of housing, from 22% in 1958 to 32% in 2008. 2 others commodities that also went through an increase of roughly 10% are travel and luxury goods, both at 17% in 2008.
Conversely, other aspects are not so lucky. The most stand out one is food, with a whooping decrease from 32% to 12%, in 1958 and 2008, respectively. Clothing and entertainment also drop, although insignificant with 2% and 7% decrease, in that order.
