The maps illustrate the compound of West Park Secondary School and the modifications that took place over the years from 1950 to 2010.
Overall, upon first glance, it is evident that the school perimeter has been expanded by converting farmland and houses into a car park and science block.
To begin with, in 1950 the school infrastructure was limited to a school building and a playground. However, three decades later, there’s been an addition of a car park, a science block, and a sports field by transforming the farmland and housing area right next to the school premises.
Furthermore, the 2010 map provides a different outlook compared to that of the 1980s. The car park and sports field have been clubbed together to equip the institution with a larger parking area. In addition, the area of the playground that remained constant throughout the years faced a reduction in its dimensions to accommodate an adequate sports field. Contrary to all these alterations, the location and size of the main road stayed fixed.
