The flowchart depicts the steps in which electricity is made from a type of coal.
Overall, there are eight subsequent steps to produce electricity, beginning with coal mining and ending with generating electricity in power plant and sending to consumers.
Firstly, coal is extracted from mines. Secondly, it is converted to small fractions using a crusher. Then, the crushed parts of coal are transported by some trucks, before gasifying in its related unit operation. In gasifier unit, small parts of coal are introduced as a feed stream. Due to some operations, gas and solid waste are produced as main product and byproduct respectively.
The outlet stream of gasifier is too hot to introduce in a gas power plant. Hence, it needs to be cooled, before proceeding. Finally, the cooled gas is fed to the gas power plant to generate electricity, transferring to houses and industries. However, due to the impossibility of working in 100% efficiency, there are some waste heat releasing through the power plant.
