Overall, there are four primary stages in the purification process, begining with the intake saltwater from the sea, which is inappropriate for drinking,
and ending with distribution to the water supply system.
Starting at the sea, saltwater is transported through pipes to the first stage. Here, the saltwater takes in a pre-treatment filter. A portion of water is sent to a backwash filter and returned to the sea. The remaining water is forced through membrane at high pressure, salt and other impurities are extracted, with the seawater concentrate being returned to the sea. Next, the filtered water flows to the post-treatment stage, where lime, chlorine, and fluoride are added to improve the quality of water. Finally, the treated water is stored in a storage before being distributed to the integrated water supply system.
