The following diagram illustrates the ways of gathering the updated information about the weather by Australian Bureau of Meteorology with the purpose of producing reliable forecasts.
Overall, the diagram shows there are two main methods of collection to get updated weather information after that they distributed the trusted forecasts to the people by using channels and medias.
The first way of collecting incoming information of weather forecasts is through satellite to get clear and accurate image by using satellite images. Those pictures help not only for analyzing the weather but also give many advantages in forecasting. After that they send them to radar for screening process, then they send the images to headquarter via internet with the purpose of preparing broadcast. The second way is using drifting buoy by placing them near islands, sea and ocean to get information about tides. Afterwards, the meteorologist analyzed the synoptic chart which got from the drifting buoys.
Moreover, after the preparation process, the forecasts are released to the public through broadcast as a live reports or pre-recorded reports. For example, for live versions, the TV channels and radio lines are used and for pre-recorded versions, the hotlines are used.
