Overall, it is a human-made linear process that allows us to generate nuclear energy from a natural element. There are 6 main steps in this process.
To begin with, uranium is mined from the earth. As the second step, natural uranium needs to be converted and enriched to obtain fuel pellets called U-235. U-235 is a fuel energy source to generate electricity. In power plants, with U-235 fuel energy, electricity is obtained.
However, the fuel has some type of expiring date. After about 4 years, the fuel becomes waste and is disposable. Even though most of it becomes disposable, some used fuel can be re-processed and reused in the power plant. On the other hand, The spent fuel that had been used and cannot be processed again is stored in containers and buried later on.
