The maps depict how the secondary school named West Park changed in three years: 1950, 1980, and 2010.
Overall, West Park Secondary School underwent significant transformations, including the replacement of houses and farmland with a car park and a science block after 1950, as well as the enlargement of a car park in 2010. Although these changes made the secondary school more accessible, they came at the expense of agricultural land.
In 1950, a housing area and the school were constructed facing the main road running west to east, while farmland and a playground appeared at the rear of them. In 1980, the main school building and the playground stayed largely intact, yet farmland was removed and replaced by a sports field. Meanwhile, the residential area was demolished to pave the way for a new car park and a science block, located between the car park and the secondary school.
After 60 years, the school building and the science block remained unchanged, but the car park was expanded towards the south, which necessitated the reduction of the sports field and the playground area.
