The diagram describes the information about the stages involved in the system of manufacturing electricity from coal.
Overall, this is a man-made process, which needs a kind of fossil fuel named coal to manufacture the product for using in the energy sector. There are 7 steps, beginning with delivered coal to the furnace and finishing with the generation of electricity.
To begin with, after being transported into the furnace, it will react with oxygen to make raw syngas. Besides, slag is formed as a by-product. Continuing with the raw syngas, it is experienced a purifying process to get rid of harmful materials such as CO2, Mercury and Sulphur and retain the purified syngas. Then this purified syngas is operated gas turbine that linked to another generator to create electrical energy.
However, the process also makes the second product in the form of hot exhaust gases and then these are tackled by a heat recovery steam generator and releasing the flues gases to the atmosphere. The generator produces steam which turns the turbines of a steam turbine to generate additional electricity.
