The diagram below illustrates the different stages of manufacturing instant coffee from coffee beans.
Overall, the production of instant coffee is a linear process involving 8 steps, these are; harvesting, drying, roasting, filtering, extraction, grinding, freezing, and packing.
First of all, the coffee beans are harvested from the farm, afterwhich they are dried under the sun. The dried coffee beans are then roasted to ensure it is well dried and ready for the next stage of production. The roasted coffee beans are filtered to separate chaffs.
After filtration, the coffee bean undergoes extraction in order to prepare it for grinding. Grinding involves using a small machine to change them from seeds to powdered form. Grinding process occurs twice for quality check. The ground coffee undergoes freezing to enable it last for a long time. Thereafter, it is packed and ready to be pushed into the market for consumption.
