Overall, games and social networking are the dominent activities on both devices. However, while people mostly use tablets for gaming, smartphone users tend to divide their time between games and social networking. Other categories such as news, music and videos, and others account for a relatively small proportion of usage.
Starting with smartphones, games make up the largest share of time spent, at 35%, followed by social networking, with 29%. Utilities contribute to 20%, while music and videos take up 8%. News and other activities represent the smallest percentages, with 3% and 5%.
Turning to tablets, games dedicate as the most significant use, devoting 57% of the total time spent in these activities. Social networking ranks second but dropping to just 15%, nearly half the proportion seen on smartphones and about four time as much as games. Music and videos come next at 13%, followed by other tasks at 8%, news at 4%. Time spent on utilities on tablets is minimal, accounting for only 3%, which is nearly one-fifth of the proportion seen on smartphones.
