The diagram illustrates the production of plate glass and bottle glass.
Overall, it can be seen that there are three main stages of the process of each product and the beginning of these two processes resembles with the major materials used being limestone, sand and soda.
Regarding the process of plate glass, the raw materials are mixed in the furnace with roughly 1700•C, which then form molten glass. Subsequently, molten glass is poured into a tank through a pipe. After that, there is a valve at the bottom of the tank, at which the molten glass flows and being straighten by rollers to form plate glass.
As for the bottle glass’s process, limestone, soda, sand are blended in the 1700•C furnace and then this mixture becomes molten glass, which resembles the beginning of the plate glass’process. At the following stage, this glass is pumped down a removable mould along with compressed air, which serve a function of shaping. After the cooling phase, the mould is able to take away and bottle glass is ready to use.
