The diagram depicts the layout of a modern landfill which will hold the household waste. Overall, we can see that there are four pictures of the site that shows the contruction of landfill and the the process involved in storing the waste which describes its three stages of construction, use and closure.
To begin with, first the deep man made hole will be constructed and it will be dug deep until it reaches the layer of rocks. Second, the synthetic substances like drainage pipes and drainage tank will be installed over the layer of clay which will secure the pipes and tank firmly.
Next, the household waste will be dumped in the hole and from the picture we can observe that during the decompost process the liquid coming from the waste is drained out in the drainage tank. Any gas released from the waste will be sent out through the pipes and that is the final stage of the construction process.
