The process depicts an outline of a modern landfill for household waste.
From an overall perspective, it can be seen that it is a man-made process taking place in a natural environment that involves drainage and disposal of different wastes as well as liquids and gases.
Regarding construction, a rectangular hole is made in a natural rock, whose walls are covered with two layers: the inner one consists of clay, and the external layer represents synthetic material. Several drainage pipes are inctalled at the bottom, where one more hole should be dug for a drainage tank.
When in use, the household waste is stored in the main compartment, while the liquid waste is held in the tank. Then, the landfill ought to be closed and paved out with a single layer of clay. The synthetic pipe pulled from the inside to the outside serves to extract gases from the hole.
