The diagram illustrates the detailed design of modern landfill for household waste. Overall the design is divided into three part, construction, usage and closure.
First and foremost, the modern landfill needs a solid, natural rock as its base and a big hole located in the center to be filled with household waste. Secondly, the combination of clay and fabric layers needs to fully enveloped the space, and a small, square shaped waste box built on the right part of the hole. Further, several drainage pipes are required to be placed in a single layer formation to help filtering process between the more solid particle waste and liquid waste.
With the regards on how to use it, household waste can be dumped gradually inside the hole. A gas pipe must be installed to ensure that gas from waste fermentation process were not entrapped.
The closure process can start when the hole already full with the household waste. Lastly, the landfill can be closed with the thicker layer of clay.
