The scheme depicts a relatively simple system for cleaning impure water which uses a number of not sophisticated instruments: barrel, different layers of substances and a hose to deliver final product.
Initially, the liquid is poured into a barrel, where it will be undergoing a filtering process of three stages. In the first step, water transfers through sand, leaving the biggest particles behind. Then, it flows down to the charcoal layer. The last substance in this transforming chain is gravel, lying at the bottom of the barrel, where water becomes pure enough to be sucked out.
According to the diagram, the filtered liquid enters a pipe and flows through it. On the other edge of the hose, drinking water ends up in a storage tank, ready to be consumed.
