Overall, it can be seen that the Eiffel Tower stands in the center of Paris, where is nearly many tourist attractions. The new underground project will introduce several facilities including ticket office, shops and restaurant, cinema and museum, and parking, effectively transforming the Eiffel Tower into a more multifunctional complex.
Turning to the details, the Eiffel Tower is located on the left bank of the Seine River. Around this area, there are Ecole Miliaire, Hotel des Invalides, Musee d’Osay and so on. It stands at a height of 324 meters and weight 10100 tonnes. The Eiffel Tower has two main viewing platforms which is the first platform at 57 meters and the second platform at 115 meters, with the total is 1665 steps.
According to the proposed plan, a large underground extension will be constructed below the tower’s foundation. The design includes five undergound levels which are connected by lift. To be more specific, the first level is used for the ticket office and access to tower, while the second level is shops and restaurants. In addition, cinema and museum are in the third floor, whereas the deepest level will serve as a parking area. Moreover, a glass ceiling will be installed in the middle.
