The visual comparisons highlight how a horse has developed over a period of 40 million years. Overall, there are four main points of time and a horse’s development in the size, foot structure, and its fur.
In the first time of the development, ancient horses had a small size, no fur and they had four feet, each having five toes. Ten million years later, ancient horses were called “mesophippus” which were larger and being flexible in their foot structures. They had same number of feet like ancient horses, but each foot had only three toes.
After a civilization of mesophippus, merychippus appeared after 15 million years. They had larger sizes, longer tails, taller feet and much hair. Their foot structures were the same as the mesophippus, but larger and stronger. In the end of the development, modern horses have appeared with the perfection of their fur, tails, and sizes. Their toes disappeared to become hoofs.
