The diagram illustrates how the salmon’s life cycle happens through 4 different and continuous stages from its borning to maturity. The process starts with eggs are laid in the upper river and ends with the reproduction to new salmon’s generation, which also takes the same place.
In the first stage, salmon eggs are hatched in the slow-moving water and covered with reeds and many small stones. This statement lasts for approx 5-6 months until the newborn fish appears. The newborn salmon called fry follows the stream to the fast-moving area at the lower river for its growth. After 4-year development, the fry becomes the smolt, which is roughly three times bigger than the fry in size.
Subsequently, the smolt migrates to the open sea, where it spends most of its life and completely improves its physical aspect. The adult salmon lengthened 70-76 centimeters long, swims back to birthplace and lays eggs. It is not only the end of this salmon’s life cycle but also the beginning of the new one.
