The diagrams illustrate the stages involved in the life cycle of a species of large fish called the salmon.
Salmon eggs are laid in between the small stones found in reeds at the bottom of slow-flowing rivers. Afrer they are born, they live there for approximately 5-6 months. The newborns are only 3-8 cm. In the next phase of their lives, they head towards fast-flowing rivers where they adopt an appropriate 8 years of residency. Throughout the years, they develop into an smolt, with their length extending from 12-15 cm. Finally, they swim to reach an open sea and dwell in their new habitat for about 5 years. At this stage of their lives, they have fully grown and developed into an adult salmon, whose length ranges from 70 to 76 cm. Now that they are mature enough to mate and bread, they return to where they were born to lay eggs.
In general, the life cycle of a salmon involves 3 stages, beginning with their birth to reaching a stage where they are thoroughly grown.
