The line chart displays how many students chose professions such as engineering, teaching, journalism, and MBA programs from 1980 to 2010.
Overall, the number of graduates enrolled in MBA programs recorded the highest growth, starting from the lowest quantity and moving to the lead by the end of the timeframe. In contrast, teaching and journalism experienced a decline, while engineering grew steadily.
In 1980, around 350,000 people enrolled in MBA programs, which was the lowest figure. However, this figure continued to rise gradually until 2000, before soaring to more than 2,250,000 in 2010. In contrast, teaching was in the highest place with slightly more than 750,000, and fell dramatically to approximately 200,000 in 2010.
Engineering and journalism started the period with nearly the same number of people, at around 550,000. Journalism experienced a slight decrease to roughly 100,000 in 2010, whereas engineering increased substantially to 1,500,000 in 2000 and remained at the same level until 2010.
