The table shows data about GDP and life expectancy for six selected countries: the USA, Australia, Spain, Poland, India and Mali in 2009. Overall, the USA had the highest GDP among all nations, and countries which had higher GDP tend to have long life expectancy per person.
For USA, the GPD was 45,900 dollars in 2009, which was the highest of all. Following, the Australian had the second ranked with the GDP per capita at 38,600 dollar, 8,000 dollars less than American’s. The figure for Spain was 32,500 dollars. The life expectancy in these three countries was quite similar: 78, 82, 81 respectively for Americans, Australians and Spaniards.
In the contrast, Poland had the GPD per capita just less than a half of the USA’s, at 18,000 dollars. But the life expectancy for each person in this country was relatively high, at 75 years old, only 3 years less than American’s. Meanwhile, Mali and India both had very low GDP and their expectancy was significantly less than the high GDP countries. Mali’s GDP was 1,200 dollars and its citizens were expected to live to 50 years old, counted for average person.
