Overall, what stands out from the graph is that manufacturing employed the largest number of people at the start of the period ,but this figure declined significantly ,after peaking in 1980 . By contrast, the number of jobs in both retail and healthcare sectors experienced a stable growth, with healthcare becoming the largest employer by 2020. However ,the figure for agriculture experienced a gradual downward trend throughout the period.
Looking at the details ,the number of jobs in manufacturing started at 15.000.000 in 1960 , which was the highest point in 1960 . After that year , the number of employees peaked at 20.000.000 in 1980, and this point was the highest in the period. Next , the number decreased considerably by 8.000.000 in 2020. The second largest employer in 1960 was Retail, that offered 6.000.000 jobs. Subsequently, the figure rose remarkably to approximately 16.000.000 in 2020, which was the second largest employer in 2020 same as in 1960.
With respect to the number of jobs in healthcare , it was the lowest point with 2.000.000 jobs offered at the start of the period . Despite a marginal increase to 5.000.000 in 1980, it then rocketed to just over 16.000.000 in 2020. This indictor was the highest in 2020, overtaking manufacturing . Finally, the number of jobs in agriculture started at the same point as retail(6.000.000)in 1960, however it declined to around 2.000.000 in 2020.
