The graph illustrates the amount of jobs across four American branches of industry between the years of 1960 and 2020. It is clear that the job market has faced considerable changes over the years.

Overall, it is clear the healthcare sector increased significantly, while the agricultural industry declined. In addition, the manufacturing segment remained the most popular until the retail industry overtook it in the recent years.

With regards to the amount of jobs in the manufacturing branch, it began at 15 million and then peaked at 20 million in the year 1980 before significantly dropping to about 13 million in 2020. Likewise, the agricultural industry hit a high of around 6 million jobs before gradually decreasing to about 2 million in the recent years.

On the other hand, the healthcare industry began at the lowest point of about 2 million and has steadily risen to 16 million after 60 years. Another figure that has taken an increase was the retailing sector, where it started at a mere 6 million and has reached a high of 16 million in the year 2020.
