The line graph illustrates population rates in four Asian countries including Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia between 1970 and 2020 and indicates predictions for the upcoming 2030 and 2040.
Overall, it can be seen that in the beginning of the period all percentages were no higher than 35 percent. However, at the end of the period, it is predicted that the number of population rates will witness a considerable increase for each country.
The most noticeable boom of population is from Malaysia which has increased from 30 percent to 75 percent by 2020 and it is predicted that Malaysia will likely have the highest percentage of the population living in cities by 2040. Indonesia has the second most significant rise from approximately 14 percent to nearly 55 percent, and it is likely that the rate of population will be in the second rate.
The rate of Thailand had increased from just above 30 percent to just below 50 percent in the 1990s. In spite of this, they had a decrease from 1990 to 2010 with a 35 percent rate, and it will rise by 2040 reaching 50 percent. Thailand was in the second to last rate with 19 percent by the 1970s,and increased steadily by the period. Nonetheless, Thailand’s population is predicted to be the lowest rate by the end of the period.
