Over the decade, both United Kingdom and Sweden have significantly reduced the amount of Carbon dioxide emissions per person. On the other hand, the said data for Italy and Portugal have slightly soared from 1967 to 1997 and remains constant afterwards.

There is an upward trend of CO2 emission from 1967 to 1997 in the countries Portugal and Italy from 1 metric tonne to 5 metric tonnes and from 4 metric tonnes to slightly less than 8 metric tonnes respectively. After 1997, the amount of emission has remained almost constant for Portugal and at the same level for Italy. Uncase of Sweden, the CO2 emission rose subsequently from 1967 to 1977 (from 8 metric tonnes to 10 metric tonnes). However, it faced a downward trend and fell to 7 metric tonnes in 1987 and again fell to 5 metric tonnes in 2007.
