Overall, there were fluctuations, in general, visits to all locations experienced increasing trends. It is also clear that the coast being the most popular choice the examined periods.
In 1987, around 40 thousand individuals from abroad visited the coast, this being the largest number in that year. This number decreased by 10 thousand visitors in 1992 and, increasing substantially to 70 thousand in 2007, still ahead of other locations.
The pattern for visits to the lakes was somewhat similar: marked growth and decline. In 1987, only 10 thousand people traveled to the lakes. This witnessed a considerable rise to roughly 75 thousand visitors and surpassed the mountains areas, but then dropped by 20 thousand, making the lakes the second most popular destinations in the study country.
Regarding the remaining data, the figure of the mountains fluctuated between 20 thousand and 30 thousand visitors. This figure saw an overall increase to 30 thousand over the period, though finishing far behind the other two locations.
