A significant number of openings were witnessed in 2011. In addition, shops saw a dramatic reduction in closures during 2015.
Regarding openings, most were in the year 2011 with over 8000 shops, this figure drops drastically in 2012 to 4000. However, in 2014, it climbs back to just a little above 6000, after which it relatively stays stable for the next few years, gradually reducing in 2018 to precisely 3000.
Concerning closures, the peak was amidst the period of 2013 with the figure slightly above 7000. This figure shifts and reaches a plummets immensely in 2015, with closures reaching less than 1000. Essentially, this number rose sharply reaching approximately 5000, in 2016. Moreover, it shifts moderately for the years later onwards.
