Overall, it’s clearly observed, that the total waste recovery started to increase sharply in 1985 and was at it’s peak in 2011 having a numerical value of 86.9 million tons and only 34.7% was recycled at the same time.
Looking into more details, we can see that the quantity of rubbish produced was comparatively less, especially from 1960 to 1975, when the total amount of litter was under the 10 million tons. Then utilization started rising and grew dramatically after 1985. Compared to it, the recycling percentage followed the similar pattern, but rose more slowly for the period from 1960 to 1985, when the maximum number was 10.1%. Since 1990 reuse rate had a gradually upswing and reached 28.5% in 10 years and the highest level for the entire time period in 11 years.
