The graph demonstrates the income from tourism in four different regions of the world, specifically Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, and Europe, over a 50-year period from 1960 to 2010.
Overall, tourism income across all four regions from 1960 to 2010 increased but fluctuated. However, Europe stands out as the region with the highest tourism revenue. In 1960, all had very little income from tourism. But by 1980 there had been a significant change. Europe has risen to more than 100 billion US dollars, leading to the first place. The Americas region shows the second-highest tourism income of about 20 billion US dollars, although still lower than Europe. Besides, Asia and the Pacific are also gradually developing, but only Africa has not changed much compared to other countries.
From 1980 to 2010, all four regions continued to grow. Europe stayed in the lead, earning more than 400 billion US dollars in 2009, though it slightly decreased by 2010. The Americas developed their income to about 170 billionUS dollars. Asia and the Pacific also grew steadily, ranking just below the Americas and Europe. However, Africa showed the slowest growth, with income staying mostly unchanged.
