The line chart below demonstrates the percentage of people which aged 65 and over for a one century since 1940 in Japan, Sweden and USA.
Overall, Sweden and USA`s proportion of people increased significantly over the entire time period. While Japan`s indicators fluctuated until almost 2010 and then it started dramatically increase.
In 1940 amount of aged people in USA was just above 10%, but it`s slowly increased through the time. After almost 20 years amount of elderly population sharply went up to 15%. Similar situation observed in Sweden, at the beginning of 1940 there was just below 7%. This two countries almost hadn`t difference till the 1980, but closer to XXI century USA`s graph was remaining relatively stable, while Sweden`s line suddenly grew up. Despite of everything, in both countries is projected rising of elderly people proportion to almost 25%.
Compare to initial point of 5%, Japan`s aged population hadn`t valuable changes from 1940 to early 2000s. However, today amount of aged Japan`s people rising up, and in all of three countries is predicted growing of elderly population.
