The line chart illustrates changes in magazine sales by a publisher in four European countries between 1999 and 2002.
Overall, magazine sales in France and Belgium increased over the period, with both countries finishing at the highest level in 2002. By contrast, sales in Germany declined steadily, while those in Holland remained relatively stable despite slight fluctuations.
Regarding France, magazine sales stood at just over 4 million euros in 1999 before increasing gradually to around 4.5 million in 2001. The figure then rose further to a peak of approximately 5 million euros in the final year. Belgium followed a similar pattern, with sales edging up from about 1.8 million euros to 2 million euros between 1999 and 2000, before climbing sharply to 3 million euros in 2001 and reaching 5 million euros by 2002. Consequently, France and Belgium jointly recorded the highest sales at the end of the period.
In contrast, Germany experienced a continuous decline, with sales falling from roughly 4.5 million euros in 1999 to around 3.5 million euros in 2001, before dropping further to approximately 2.5 million euros in 2002. Meanwhile, magazine sales in Holland rose slightly from 3 million euros to about 3.4 million euros in 2000, after which they declined gradually to 3 million euros in 2001 and remained unchanged in the final year.
