The two line charts illustrate the number of people in four countries (Eritrea, India, UK, and Uruguay) subscribing to mobile phones over a 10-year period compared to that of fixed telephone subscribers.
All four countries saw an increase of mobile phone subscriptions, although Eritrea and UK shows only a slight increase over the period. On the other hand, Uruguay and India shows a significant increase over the period. The former have less than five thousand subscriptions in 2005 which then grows to a notable fifteen thousand subscriptions in 2015, which made it a country with the highest mobile phone subscriptions in 2015 compared to the other three. The latter also shows a major rise of over six times the initial amount in 2005.
Interestingly, it seems that the mobile phone subscriptions growth does not have any impact to the number of fixed telephone subscriptions over time. The four countries have a steady trend of fixed telephone subscriptions throughout the 10 years, with UK and India having a small decrease while Uruguay saw a minor increase over time. UK has the most number of subscriptions throughout the period, while Eritrea and India alternately being the country with the lowest number of fixed telephone subscriptions.
The trend between mobile phone subscriptions and fixed telephone subscriptions does not seem to have any correlation. In general, fixed telephone subscriptions remain steady while mobile phone subscriptions for all countries increases in 10 years.
