The two graphs show the number of mobile and landline phone contracts in four different countries over a ten year period, from 2005 to 2015. Overall, there are large differences in the number of people who chose these phone services in the countries.
During this period in the UK there was more subscriptions to mobile phones than people, starting at over 100 subscriptions per hundred people, rising to 120 in 2007 and remaining stable after this. The country also had the most fixed phone services, however this dropped slightly from approximitely 58 to 52 lines per hundred people. It is also interesting to note that the number of mobile subscriptions in Uruguay increased dramatically, surpassing the UK in 2009 before finishing the period at 150 while fixed lines stayed level with around 30 per hundred.
Looking at India and Eritrea, the number of subscriptions to fixed lines were both quite low, although India gradually decreased, whereas Eritrea rose slightly. By contrast, the number of mobile subscriptions in India went up from 5 per hundred to around 80, while the figure of Eritrea did not change.
