Dear Sir/Madam
Recently, I have read the news in our local paper about the decision to build a hypermarket at the place of our old church. That news was so shocking that I was made to write this letter to you immediately. Hopefully, my letter can convince you not to destroy the historical heritage.
As you know, our hometown is famous for this church that was built in the 17th century, and its long story is inseparably connected to the story of the town. Despite being the only place to go sightseeing here, it is still visited by tourists all over the world every year. Building the new shopping centre will not only destroy the architectural appearance, but will also erase the history of which each townsman is proud. For this reason, the preservation of our multi-age monument is very important from the perspective of our culture and traditions.
I am absolutely positive that the mall should be built at the wasteland just outside the borders of the township. There is enough space for the parking too, which will undoubtedly allow us to avoid traffic jams.
Hope for your understanding,
Leonid Kim
