The illustrations demonstrate the changes that have occurred in Ryemouth coastal town between 1995 and now.
Overall, the village has undergone significant transformation, shifting from a farming and fishing industry area to one that now features tourist developments. Additionally, there were numerous additions of modern recreational facilities to attract and accommodate visitors.
Regarding the northern area, with the intersection as a boundary, the most striking change was the expansion of accommodation for both residents and tourists. The housing area in the west-northern corner, and the hotel located nearby the intersection has been enlarged. There are a new row of holiday homes, which replaced the previous public park. The sport houses have been converted into a chain of restaurants. Moreover, tennis and golf courses were added, resulting in the disappearance of the farm land in the east-northern corner. There is now a car park opposite the holiday accommodations.
Concerning the southern part of the village, the fish market in the west area has been demolished, leaving space for new buildings of apartments. The coffee shop remained unchanged, and a new road was built to access there. Furthermore, the fishing boats have been eliminated, as a result, the sea is now mainly used for tourism purposes with the introduction of yachts to enhance services for visitors.
