### IELTS Writing Task 1 – Sample Answer
The maps illustrate the current layout of part of a small town called Springsby and the proposed changes to this area.
Overall, the town is planned to undergo significant development, particularly with the addition of several commercial and transport facilities. The main changes will be the construction of two shopping centres, additional car parks and a bus station, while the existing park, lake, school and housing estate will remain largely unchanged.
At present, the northern part of the area consists mainly of a park containing a lake, with a housing estate located to its east. Park Avenue runs vertically through the area, while Western Road crosses it from east to west. A school is situated south of Western Road, immediately west of Park Avenue. The remaining land to the southeast is undeveloped.
Under the proposed plan, a car park will be built to the west of the existing park, adjacent to Western Road. The park and lake will remain in their current positions. To the east of Park Avenue, a shopping centre and a small car park will be added beside the existing housing estate. Another shopping centre will be constructed in the southeast, together with a larger car park. In addition, a bus station is planned for the southwest corner, between Western Road and the school. Overall, the road network and existing residential and recreational facilities will be retained.
