The following 2 maps show the current Islip town centre and the new town centre after it is developed.
Overall we can see that existing facilities will be improved and new facilities will be added. Such as extending the current road into a dual carriageway and making it encircle the new town centre and turning the shops into a shopping centre. Space from the countryside will be taken to add new facilities like bus station ,car park, and a footpath for padestrians.
First of all we can see that the main road in the future will no longer go through the centre of the town and instead will encircle it. The main road will be replaced by pedestrian walkway. South of the pedestrian walkway, the shops will remain as they are. North of the pedestrain walkway, the row of shops will be replaced by a bus station, shopping centre, car park and new housing.
To the south of the shops, the old housing will be moved towards the west and the park size will be reduced to make space for new housing. To the south of the old hosuing, across the road will be the school, in the same position as before. While the housing next to it will be moved further east.
