Overall, the town has undergone enormous developments, especially in terms of infrastructure, residential spots, and commercial places as well. Despite these changes, several places have remained unchanged.
In 2000, the town had the transportation system used by most people; however, it was converted into an attractive pedestrian path. In contrast, the remaining spaces nearby the sea were filled with recreational facilities, including clubs and bars and also a popular restaurant. On the other hand, the large city centre, which in 2000 was empty, now has a new feature: the bike rental scheme made it look well-utilized. In addition, in 2000, the south side of the old city was transformed into a lively new shop. Opposite this place, a new covered market was constructed.
However, the university remained, and also a new footpath was built to connect the university and the city center, and adjacent to this, a big train station was planned. West of the train station was demolished, and actually the corner of the west side for residents’ tall hall of residence was modernised. Moreover, the green space was redeveloped into a popular commercial place, which is a shopping center.
