The maps depict changes made in Stratford from 2007 to 2012 during the readiness for the London Olympic Games in 2012.
Overall, the tedious industrial city was converted to the Sport territory full of stadiums and paths for sports spectators for better commuting between olympic arenas and centers. There was also the Olympic park constructed.
In 2007 in the northern part of the city there were only the small town with the shopping center and the train station. In the southern part we see a wide area dedicated to the wasteland near the warehouses and factories.
Compared to 2007, the territory above the Lea river experienced noticeable number of changes. Along with remained buildings, an aquatics center was built on northeast. Right under the town a velodrome and basketball arena were constructed. On the south, opposite each other a riverbank arena and a big Olympic stadium were placed. For visitors’ and sports fans’ convenience a pedastrian path «London walk» was paved connecting (clockwise) the train station, an Olympic stadium, a hockey arena, a basketball arena and a velodrome and running through the river in two places.
