The given two maps illustrate various car tunnel systems in two Australian cities. Overall, there are significant changes between tunnel systems, which related to length, width, cost and time of construction.
To begin with first tunnel, which was built under the water and the layer of sand, starting 1986 and taking 12 years. In contrast, the second tunnel constructed above the crowded city and beneath the layer of stone and clay, and finished in 2006, which took just 4 years. Moreover, the first tunnel cost 555 million dollars, while the other city funded nearly twice that many million dollars, at 1.1 million.
Regarding size of tunnels, they varied considerable in length and depth; however, the first tunnel was 1.5 meters high, which the depth of another tunnel was 1 meter more than this at 2.5 meters. In addition, the length of tunnels was 2.2 kilometers and 3.6 kilometers, respectively. Furthermore, in first tunnel, there are two lanes for cars, while the second tunnel have six lanes.
