The supplied picture depicts a clear description of the construction of a hot air balloon, as well as its operation.
In general, the structure consists of three main parts: the envelope, the burners and the basket. Notably, balloon’s mechanism is based on thermodynamics, specifically the regular upward circulation of hot air.
Regarding the construction, the basket at the bottom of the balloon, which links with a couple of propane cylinders, is often used to accommodate passengers and commodities. Additionally, the skirt, the basket and the burners are connected by ropes. In terms of the envelope, it is composed of panels, gores and a parachute valve. The panels are used to create gores. Likewise, the envelope is primarily formed by assembling gores together. Besides, above the envelope is the parachute valve, permitting hot air to escape a controlled rate.
Regarding its mechanism, hot air is generated by burners, going into the envelope. Based on the principle of thermodynamics, hot air inside the balloon is relatively lighter than cooler air from the environment. During the process, thrust force is produced, allowing the hot air balloon to rise.
