The pie chart above illustrates the proportion of water consumption among different sectors of society, while the accompanying bar chart gives the purposes of the residential water usage in Australia, in the year 2004.
Overall, a huge amount of water was used for the residential sector. Additionally, the water utilization for a bathroom and a garden was higher than other purposes in terms of residential water use.
As a matter of fact, the share of liquid usage in the residential sector is 70 %, followed by industrial and business areas, which were 11% and 10% respectively. Government used 6% of water, which is double that of other purposes.
According to the bar chart, proportion of water useage in the gardens was 28% and it reached the peak. More than that, 27% and 15% of water was used in bathrooms and toilets respectively. This figure was 10% in kitchens, which was 2 times less than for cleaning clothes
