The plot illustrates average student expenses in the UK in 2016 per month, broken down by six categories. With renting being the biggest expense with 385 pounds and travelling being the lowest with only 52 pounds.
Food and renting are essential parts of student’s life and they are colossal expenses in comparison to any other. Although renting cuts almost a half of the whole budget, food costs three times less than it, around 124 pounds monthly. Which is still much more than any other category at least by 25 percent.
On bills, travelling and socialising students spend about the same amount of money(69, 52, 64 pounds respectively). Hence, these three categories are the cheapest for a student. The last category called “other” remains, monthly student spend on it about 91 pounds which is also significant if we compare it to bills, travel or socialising, but still not that tremendous in comparison to food and rent.
