Overall, it is clear that the major reason for lack of housing in the UK is loss of accommodation with relatives or friends, having the biggest share, while relation breakdown attains the second spot. It is also worth mentioning that rental arrears have the least impact on people in the UK for losing their homes.
Looking at the details, over a third of housing instability is due to losing accommodation with relatives or friends, outstripping the remaining purposes by a wide margin (34%). Relation breakdown is another reason that the figure accounts for almost a fourth (24%). Regarding loss of tenancy and other reasons for homelessness, the percentage comprises between 10% and 20%(13 % and 19 % ,respectively). Finally, only 9 % of homelessness is reported by the reason of mortgage and rent arrears in the UK.
