Overall, the principal source of energy in 2015 were fossil fuels, which is predicted to maintain the first position in 2040. Contrarily, the solar energy was the last power in 2015, while it is expected to switch with nuclear power in 2040. It is clear from the bar charts that there will be a change in the energy production by 2040, compared to the past.
Fossil fuels represent the mainly energy sources both in the past and in the future, despite they will be reduced by 2040. Specifically, in 2015 the rate was 64% of the total energy capacity, and it will fall to 44% in the future. Instead, we will observe a significant improvement of the solar energy that it is predicted to raise from 2% (in 2015) to 18% (in 2040). Nuclear energy will be the least energy source in 2040 with a rate of 5%, which will be similar to that one in 2015 (6%).
The expectations about wind energy affirm that the percentage will climb from 5% (2015) to 12% in 2040. Finally, other renewables energy sources will almost remain unchanged in the future: 21% in 2040 against 23% in 2015.
