The pie chart illustrated below differentiates between the various kinds of energy production in France in 1995 and 2005. Overall, in 1995, gas, coal and petrol were the major sources of energy. However, in 2005, the use of petroleum decreases while nuclear and other sources of energy also have increased use.
To explain in detail, in both 1995 and 2005, gas and coal are significantly used. Moreover, in 2005, the use of gas(30.31%) and coal(30.93%) increased as compared to 29.63% of gas and 29.8% coal in 1995. Though petroleum(29.27%) remained in high demand in 1995, its use dropped to 19.25% in 2005.
As the use of petroleum declined by 2005, nuclear(10.10%) and others(9.10%) were in more use. This is different from 1995 when other sources of energy were less in use as they were at 4.90% and nuclear energy use was only at 6.40%.
Therefore, coal and gas are seen to be prominently used in both 1995 and 2005. But other sources of energy use are also on the rise in 2005.
