The pie charts illustrate how the various types of energy production are composed in France as a percentage in the years 1995 and 2005.
Overall, in both years, the most significant sources of energy were gas and coal, which together accounted for over half the production of energy, while nuclear, petroleum, and other types of energy sources generated the least amount of energy in France. There was only minimal change in all types of energy production over the ten-year period.
At the beginning of the period, energy produced by coal comprised 29.80% in France and experienced a slight increase of about 1% to 30.9% in 2005. Likewise, in 1995, gas generation had a slight increase of almost 1% from 29.63% to 30.31% ten years later. However, nuclear energy sources made up a 5% growth from 6.4% to 10.10% between 1995 and 2005.
On the other hand, petroleum was the only source of energy that decreased in production from 29.27% in 1995 to around 19.55% in 2005.
