The pie charts compare the proportion of eneregy produced from five different sources, namely Coal, Natural gas, Nuclear power, Hydropower, Solar and wind in a European country in 2000 and 2025.
Overall, coal was the highest contributor in 2000 but it fell significantly in 2025. In contrast, Solar and wind was the lowest contributor but increased dramatically and was the highest contributor in 2025. Meanwhile, other sources such as Natural gas and Hydropower changed marginally from 2000 to 2025. Nuclear power remained the same in both years.
In 2000, coal accounted for the highest proportion at 35% of the total energy production, followed by Natural gas at 25%, and Nuclear power at 20%. Solar and wind and Hydropwer combined accounted for 20% of the total energy generation.
By 2025, Solar and wind increased sharply from 8% in 2000 to 25% in 2025, overtook Coal and became the top contributor. By contrast, coal plummeted to just 18% from 35%. Natural gas contribution fell 3%, While Hydeopowe increased 3%. Nuclear power remained unchanged in both years.
