The maps illustrate and present the helicopter view of a harbour before and after the process of redevelopment/ modernization.
As can be seen from the maps, the harbour witnesses a significant change.
The harbour included three main areas, namely, the North dock, the South peninsula, and the West side for facilities.
After the modernization plan, the number of docks in the North has been doubled to meet the demands of passenger ferries to the harbor. Next, the spaces for marina and fishing boats have been swapped for one another, increasing capacity for private yachts, while minimizing capacity of fishing boats. Moving on to the next change, the disused castle in the East of the peninsula has been redesigned into hotel to provide accommodations for visitors. Next to it, to the West, the beach has been privatised only to serve hotel’s guests. In terms of transport, a new road has been constructed to facilitate the transportation between car parks and the hotel. There has been a new cafe and a range of shops, which are sandwiched between the marina and the lifeboat area, offering refreshment and so on.
